What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

Playing with my 3 boys; anything Huskers/Yankees/Panthers and cooking.

What is your background?

I grew up in Prague, NE and went to the now closed Prague High School. After high school, I attended Wayne State College and got a degree in Business Administration – Public Accounting. After graduating, I married my childhood sweetheart, moved to Lincoln, and began working at Strain Slattery Barkley. Since then, we now have three very energetic boys.

What are your favorite industries to work with and why?

Telephone industry – I started getting involved when I first started working at Strain Slattery Barkley. I learned how specialized the industry is due to federal and state regulation. It helped me to understand our clients even more as the accounting side of things related to many of the regulatory filings the companies have. I went from feeling in over my head to now enjoying working with each of these companies to assist them in whatever changes come their way!

What is a common question that you get from clients and how do you answer it?

How are you doing? The answer usually is I am doing well but can drop all the way to I am hanging in there when we are reaching the end of tax season.

What concept in your profession that applies to your entire life?

Time management and communication. There is only so much time in the day – use it wisely! With busy schedules, it is important to communicate with your employer, family, and friends!
